They offer a free conversion for the old model single sixes where they install a transfer bar (I think) to prevent it from going off if it is loaded with six and is dropped on the hammer. Here is a link to the Ruger site where you can figure out what year it is by serial number and also download a manual. For a $10 fee, they will send you a letter. Ruger lists the serial number range on the older revolvers from 1972 through 1988 on their website for easy identification. How does one tell the date of manufacture of a Ruger single six by the serial #? I am sure this has been asked before and I have been searching past forums with no luck so I thought I would asked you fellas more knowledgable than me.
